First Steps

I’ve always loved writing. In high school I actually enjoyed writing poetry, essays and short stories. I stopped writing in college, but often thought about it. Once I had kids I’d come up with a book idea and think maybe someday, but the time never seemed right. There was always something else to do. I’ve decided that someday is now, I’ve started the character development for my first book. I’m obviously in the very early stages, but I’m happy with my progress so far. I leave the laptop on and jot down ideas as they occur to me. My goal is to complete the character and location development by September so I can write while the kids are in school.

Hmmmm

Well, I did something today I thought I’d never do. Seriously. I bought a bikini, and not a tankini. An itsy bitsy teeny weeny little black and white bikini. I actually think it looks good. Yay me!! Call it temporary insanity. Hopefully it’ll serve as motivation to keep working on my abs. I’ll keep you posted.

Olive Oil Challenge :: Day 30

Eczema sucks! It is dry itchy and sometimes painful. I have been dealing with eczema on various parts of my body since Natalie was born. I have tried every cream on the market, nothing really worked. I have cortisone creams, but don’t want to use them long term. After stumbling on a website touting the amazing things you can do with olive oil, I figured I had nothing to lose, so I’d give it a try. I have been applying olive oil to my damp skin skin after every shower for the last 30 days. My eczema diminished to the point where it no longer bothers me. If you look at the pictures, you can still see remnants of where the eczema patches were, but they are no longer itchy or raised. In fact my skin has never been softer. I highly recommend olive oil to anyone looking for softer, smoother skin. If you have eczema, try olive oil for 30 days!

30 Day Olive Oil Challenge

Odd title, I know. I have extremely dry skin. So dry that in the winter my hands crack and bleed. Recently I discovered this website which touts the amazing qualities of olive oil. Now I’ve tried almost every cream on the market and nothing really works. I also have the cortisone creams, but don’t like using them often as they thin the skin. I’ve decided to try olive oil after every shower for a month and see if I notice a difference in my skin.

This is a before shot of the excema patches on my calf. We’ll see how they look after a month.

Nicholas is sick :(

Nicholas has been ill for the past few days. I so hate seeing him sick. I think he is starting to feel a little bit better today. The only bonus is he is content to lie in my bed and let me get some work done. I usually don’t post about work on this blog, but I am offering 35% off all my designs in my ebay store including photo birthday invitations, Photo Christmas cards, Photo birth announcements and more. This offer is valid until November 30th, 2009. Please take a moment and check it out!

Computers … ARGHHHH

Okay, I am the first to admit that I like computers. I love the internet and some have said that I may have an addiction.  A few weeks ago Natalie said to me, Mommy, you are addicted to your computer. Sigh, my name is Tanya and I am an internetaholic.

I am having the roughest time trying to figure out a new site that I am working with to templatize my designs. In theory, the process sounds simple, but in reality I have spent the better part of the last 2 days fighting with this site. I think I am doing everything properly – notice how I say think, because if I truly was doing everything right I wouldn’t be typing this rant right now – and yet my templates will not work properly. Sometimes the fonts won’t show, sometimes the photos won’t upload properly. I think I am going to have to break down and have Louie take a peek at it tonight. Maybe all I need is a fresh set of eyes.

I’m off to pour myself a glass of wine and think about what to make for dinner. hm-mm, maybe I’ll skip dinner and just have the wine…
